Our children need you!

The Fatherhood Initiative is pleased to present our second Man Cave event in partnership with Darryl Anderson and the men’s ministry at Hope Christian Fellowship.

All Pastors and church leaders are invited to come and learn and be encouraged to build a great Men’s Ministry. Register today! The event is free but we need a count for Brunch! Saturday, April 26 from 9a-12noon. Doors open at 8a for bagels, coffee & fellowship! Brunch at 11:30am.

The Fatherhood Initiative is made up of local churches and organizations  who seek to build relationships with other men to raise an army of Godly Father Figures and impact the 75% fatherless homes in our community.

We feature local mentoring organizations at our TFI Roundtable, to hear testimonies from mentors and mentees about how God uses these relationships to bring love, understanding, direction and wisdom to a child who desperately needs a supportive adult in their lives.

Access video recordings of Roundtables here (and more on YouTube):

YFC Basketball

Joe Schmidt and Ben Barrow from the YFC Basketball program give some advice to anyone considering being a mentor: Bring a father’s heart, bring encouragement and recognition, be authentic and be consistent, but don’t overthink it!

Link Mentorship

Link Mentorship (linkmentorship.org) mobilizes the church by training mentors and connecting them with youth. Link Mentorship seeks to change the trajectory of boys lives by introducing a safe, beneficial male presence that augments the family structure they live in.

Fatherhood Connection

Ishmael Cox talks about a life of transition from homelessness, to football star to heartbreak, to obedience & humility, to purpose. We’re all under construction in Christ!

Making An Impact

The Fatherhood Initiative seeks to make an impact on the 75% fatherless homes in the city by raising an army of Godly Father Figures.

Everyone understands the urgency of the situation; none of us want to see another generation lost. Together, we are standing in the gap to become part of the solution and bring some discipline, confidence, stability, and love to a child’s life.

For more information, email Mike Hennessy at mhennessy@yfcrochester.org.

Willie Lightfoot and Jeff Hill talk about taking care of our own. Let’s show our youth that we care and give them someone to look up to.

The Solution: Build an Army of Healthy Male Role Models

The Fatherhood Initiative – Rochester aims to invigorate church youth ministries and grow opportunities for men to mentor our youth through programs, activities, and outreaches.

The first step is to raise awareness of the problem, then influence the Church and the community at large to take action.

Fatherlessness Is at the Root of Every Problem We Face

Poverty, Addiction, Crime, Mental Health/Suicide, Failing Schools, and Teen Pregnancy.

Fatherlessness is a spiritual issue, and until we call on God to do His redemptive work on our mind, body, and spirit we are simply treating the symptoms and never solving the problem.

Pastor Reggie Cox of the Fatherhood Connection talks about Post Traumatic Fatherless Syndrome.

Cuevas Walker of GO Ministries calls on the men of the church to become a father to your neighborhood.

The Solution: Getting The Church Involved

Our goal is to build an Army of Healthy Male Role Models that can give kids that stability, discipline, character and confidence that only a Dad can provide.

We want to equip men in the church with the skills to be fathers and mentors and expand opportunities for them to pour into the lives of our youth.
